Hole 11
Vlakte van Kerken
To the left of the wide fairway plain of hole 11 is a dune area, intersected with trenches that are wet or dry depending on the water situation.
The Vlakte van Kerken (literally the church plains) is a dried-out shallow area in the Wadden Sea, behind De Schorren. Once upon a time, if you had stranded with your ship (and if you had really good eyes), you could see church towers of different faiths and choose which God you would call on for help.
Has the flow of birdies ceased? Is the putter dry? Then this is the time and place for a golf prayer. Zigzag dunes mark the fairly long par four, which also has the threatening water on the left.
Tip: Avoid the small dunes and the water. The real danger with this hole is the green at a higher level.
