Golf at the seaside
Golf Course De Texelse is an 18-hole par 72 golf course where experienced golfers and enthusiastic beginners are welcome. Practice your golf game on the renovated Par-3, the driving range (partly covered) or the putting green. Whatever you choose, you can always count on a warm welcome on this special course, in the middle of the dunes of Texel. The Texelse has the rugged character of a real dune course with very well-maintained fairways, water features and large, tight greens. Depending on the direction of the wind, you can hear the sea roar here!
Traditional links, but on the Wadden
For true golf connoisseurs, Golf Course De Texelse evokes comparisons with authentic English/Scottish golf courses: the so-called ‘links courses’, because of its beautiful location in the dunes. De Texelse has the rugged character of a real dune course and there are very few of those!
Alan Rijks designed this special 18-hole course. The high hills along the fairways, the thick marram grass, the sloping positions, the shifting dunes, almost all holes demand the utmost from the golfer. De Texelse is truly a course you want to have played!
Innovations
In the winter of 2021/2022, the De Texelse golf course underwent an extensive renovation. The first 9 holes were redesigned and now connect better with the second 9 holes. The holes have many reliefs, which makes the game varied and challenging. The new tee on hole 1 at 6 metres is spectacular. The renovated par-3 course, which is also suitable for golf beginners, is unique. The new clubhouse/restaurant with terrace offers a fantastic view over the golf course due to its elevated position. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch, Texel beer and/or dinner before and after a round of golf.
Each hole has its own limerick!
Those coming to play a unique round of golf in the dunes near De Cocksdorp will not be disappointed. Beautiful holes, one of the most impressive bunkers in the country, marram grass that rises above your knees, blind strokes and at every hole a limerick by Jan Heemskerk, former Playboy Editor-in-Chief and Golfers Magazine columnist.
Water buffer
With the construction of the second 9 holes in 2014, proper water management for maintenance was essential. Not only for the golf course but also against the salinisation of the Texel land. An ingenious system captures excess rainwater from the adjacent De Krim holiday park, and this water is stored in the buffer. The buffer can store 15,000 m3 of water. The water buffer is equipped with a solar panel field!
The construction was made possible by a subsidy from the Province of North Holland.
